59% - Public Grows More Wary About Government Role in Health Care
About six-in-ten agree that they are concerned about the government becoming too involved in health care, according to a survey conducted this spring. That's up 13 points since 2009. Read more
Tim, part 3...Think again...it should be called the insurance act, not health...bring down health care costs and I am for it..this does not...we will still go broke when cancer strikes or that major surgery hits. The fundraisers are still needed but shouldn't be..that is my beef..bring the costs down, not simply adding millions to the insurance rolls....and I now will not give the way I used to because I cannot (gov. mandated a tax on me). If they know all and this is the answer, then why is there a need for those fundraisers, telethons, etc. If is it truly AFFORDABLE, then there is no need to worry..right..I have a pre-existing condition and guess what, they rejected the appeal. Why? I didn't get it checked in the last year. But, I have had it since birth.

FOR OBNS, 6/28/12 from AMPAS
Beverly Hills, CA - The Board of Governors of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences approved rules for the 85th Academy Awards. The most significant changes affect the Music, Foreign Language Film, Makeup and Visual Effects categories.
In the Music (Original Song) category, the Executive Committee may recommend that a fourth songwriter for an individual song be considered in rare and extraordinary circumstances. This amends the rule that has been in effect since 2005, whereby up to two songwriters could be eligible per song, although a third songwriter could be added if he or she were found to be an essentially equal contributor.
In the Foreign Language Film category, films must be submitted to the Academy in 35mm or DCP, but are no longer required to be exhibited in those formats in their countries of origin.
The award given in the Makeup category will now be known as the Makeup and Hairstyling Award. Additionally, during the nominations process, all branch members who have seen the seven shortlisted titles will receive ballots to list their top three choices.
In the Visual Effects category, nominees will be selected from a pool of ten films chosen by the Branch Executive Committee by secret ballot. Previously, the committee could put forward as many as ten productions or as few as seven.
Other adjustments to the rules include standard date changes and other "housekeeping" adjustments.
Rules are reviewed annually by individual branch and category committees. The Awards Rules Committee then reviews all proposed changes before presenting its recommendations to the Academy's Board of Governors for approval.
Academy Awards for outstanding film achievements of 2012 will be presented on Sunday, February 24, 2013, at the Dolby Theatre® at Hollywood & Highland Center®, and televised live on the ABC Television Network. The Oscar® presentation also will be televised live in more than 225 countries worldwide. OBNS WILL THERE ONCE AGAIN..THE 17TH YEAR IN A ROW...

UPDATE: I am hearing now that Roberts may have done this to hand the election over to Romney. If you read his opinion, he thinks it is stupid...but, as a lawyer, did his job (and he did). But, this is sweeping power so being forced to buy GREEN is coming; buy certain cars is coming. Forget health for one minute. This is a freedom issue. Your freedom to choose is being wiped away, little by little.
Liberal presidents are known for this as a guise to help the lowly (simply not true; it weighs them down and plays more on emotion. That party is all about being smarter, they say, but do not see the power grab, all under the emotionally-charged idea of passing feel-good items that make things worse.
Three liberal presidents have all gone too far.
1. FDR and his New Deal (parts were good but overall, not)
2. LBJ and his Great Society and dependence on government
3. And now, Obama...
I am getting chided for the idea that people will not give to charities anymore. I cannot if this is to move forward...charity means providing for me and my family first...one cutback, sorry to say, are the others...at first, it is $95 a year then by 2016, $695 penalty..you do the math...someone will suffer and if this is an AFFORDABLE act, then make it affordable ...
Remember, we vote with our pocketbook (how does it affect you, money wise): the party and rejoicing now will not last when people realize the money issues...TRUTH...21 TAX INCREASES...
With a decision like this one from the Supreme Court, please throw out those emotions and political speeches. The key now is, how much do I have to pay? The truth for me, as a single (always forgotten) part of these issues, will be taxed. This is a tax. Which means I may have to stop something else in order to pay for something I didn't ask for. By mandate. How many small businesses, with just over the allotted number, now fire people to get under that limit of mandatory coverage? The Democrats and Obama have a victory but when the dust settles, it is still a bad bill. Not that we should NOT be covered and have access (we do now and the poor always have had it). It is called the Affordable Care Act. Really? I can't afford it and do not want it. So, when THIS AFFORDABLE CARE ACT IS FULLY IMPLEMENTED, I WILL NO LONGER GIVE TO ANY BUCKET BRIGADE, FUNDRAISERS AND THE LIKE. THIS IS IT NOW. THIS MEANS WE HAVE ALL HEALTH CARE AND THUS, DO NOT NEED THE MARCH OF DIMES, AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY, RELAY FOR LIFE, MDA, ST. JUDE'S, BENEFITS FOR THOSE DYING OF CANCER AND THE LIKE (LIKE MY SISTER IN WHICH WE REFUSED TO SANCTION ONE)..NO MORE NEED FOR WALKS, RUNS, RED RIBBONS, PINK, WHITE, ETC.
WAKE UP! WE MAY ALL HAVE IT (?) BUT BY NO MEANS IS IT AFFORDABLE...
WAL MART WITH THEIR $4 PRESCRIPTIONS SAVED ME MORE MONEY THAN A BILL OR CONGRESS EVER COULD DO.
MAKE IT ALL FREE IF YOU REALLY WANT US ALL TO HAVE IT...AND MAKE ALL CARE-GIVERS DO THEIR JOBS FOR LESS MONEY... AND THE EQUIPMENT USED, WELL, MAKE THE COMPANIES WHO MAKE THEM, GIVE IT TO US FREE AS WELL... THIS AFFORDABLE CRAP IS NONSENSE....affordable would bring down the prices and I would back a plan that does that...this does not.

Brutal weekend for Cruise and Sandler. FLOP OF AGES
and Adam looks like a frontrunner for another round of Razzies...
By Tim O'Brien
A glut is happening at the movie theaters and it hurt this weekend. There just may be too many films looking for screen space and it only will get worse as the summer progresses.
It seems that a few films this year are making it look like a healthy box office year, but that would not be the case. "Hunger Games" and "Avengers" are doing fine but others are coming and going, and many are simply flopping along the way. Can you say "John Carter"? Or, "Rock of Ages?"
However, the offerings were less than stellar with "Rock of Ages" and "That's My Boy." So, that led the way for a repeat of last week, when those hot days "forced" many into those air-conditioned theaters. It was a hot one again this past weekend, but in many locations, rains hit. And welcome rains.
"Madagascar 3," which one may think doesn't have any gas left in its tank, had a great first weekend and wins again with an estimated $35.5 million take. The second place film was the same as last week as well, "Prometheus." It hauled in $21 million.
That leaves the just released Tom Cruise film in third with a disappointing, some say, $15 million. Now, some say that but after seeing it, one may wonder how it made that much. The answer would simply be Cruise. It went for campy and got messed up with too much cheese and got stuck.
Meanwhile, Adam Sandler looks like he wants to win more Razzies as "That's My Boy" never got off the ground and is stranded at No. 5 with $13 million.

P.S. Before moving back to the Midwest from southern California, this was the last story I covered. The events of those times will be forever etched in my memory. They were not happy times, to say the least. Looking at Los Angeles at night during the riots was surreal as the city burned. And King himself asking us to all "just get along."
