Scope it, as in Horoscope: Wake up. It's January 3 already. Get going.
Bonehead Tip of the Day: Let someone else's problems and dislikes affect what you do every single day of your life. Yes, you need the drama of others to get through the day. No matter what you are going through someone else will top it. Do you ever wonder why we tell other people anything?

Notes: At first glance, a weak holiday weekend. Oh well. To be honest, I have never been to a movie over New Year's holiday. However, the silver lining, the top eight films all in double digits. Look for "Blue Valentine" and "Another Year" to start getting some award attention, I hope. And, one thing to keep an eye on is the Hollywood Foreign Press and Dick Clark Productions are in contract talks, right in time for the Golden Globes this month. Their contract runs out after this year. Another dilemma for me this time of year is when sports collide with award season. On Jan. 17, I will have tickets to the Bears home playoff game and that is also the date of the Golden Globes. Hmmm.
As for January releases for films, this week has "Season of the Witch" and "Country Strong" getting a wider release. Love this time of year when certain movies are dumped on us. Hardly any get traction as the new year begins, plus we are concentrating on those upcoming awards. At least I am. For example, dump "The Dilemma" on us and a 3D "Green Hornet" this month. I loved "Green Hornet" growing up so it qualifies as a film I will ignore. Yes, it's in that category I talked about in my worst list last week.
As for 2010, BO still over $10 billion but overall attendance is down. This is the trend I will be following more this year - - BO vs actual attendance. On that note, the most-watched (attended) movie of all time is "Gone With the Wind."
Trivia: I think it's time for another quick history check. Abraham Lincoln DID NOT write that famous address on the back of an envelope. July 2 was the date when many thought would be remembered as the day we celebrate. It is as is July 4, right? As for the Gunfight at the OK Corral, it was not fought in front of said corral. Richard Nixon was not impeached. He resigned. There is a difference. Pandas used to eat meat. Greenland was called that on purpose to attract visitors. Iceland is more green. Those are not thorns on a rose. They are prickles. Kind of like I felt after watching the Rose Bowl. The size of your intestines has nothing to do with their names. Just think about that one and now, move on. We use more than 10 percent of or brains. I know I do and it hurts. Monsoon is a wind. That blows.
