Bonehead Tip of the Day: Suggest the word genius gets toned down a bit. From the looks of things these days, we could use a few. Or let's be honest, just because someone is labeled a genius, it seems like they have a pass on whatever comes out of their mouths.
The List: Critic's Choice Top Films
"The King's Speech"
"The Social Network"
"Toy Story 3"
Notes: Do critics like to be right? Yes, we do. Unless the majority of those polled wants a movie to win, I suppose, then critics tend to shy away. However, shaping the discussion to the direction of the top movies of the year is really the key. This year is a good example of that very idea. These movies are all good and should be seen by more than have walked through the turnstiles. The top box office draws, while very popular, are usually just bumble gum. By no means is that bad, but to award "Avatar" over a well-acted, less visually stunning movie, is not the way critics, me included, tend to go. In the long run, sure watch "Avatar" over and over again, but award "The Hurt Locker." That is what critics try to do and will continue to do - - bring attention to those films, like this year's "Winter's Bone." Sometimes, we are all on the same page with "Lord of the Rings" and "Titanic," but "Best" and "Favorite" are two different things - - and should be. Disclaimer: Although some simply hate "Titanic" I will not succumb to the hatred. I'm not just an artsy, independent movie-going critic. I do not like video games on the screen and will avoid them, but that doesn't mean you should.
Trivia: It really doesn't surprise me that when exposed to rock music, plants do poorly. And when listening to what some call music today, who knows what will happen. President Eisenhower cut his wedding cake with a sword. Physically, white is a mixture of all colors.
