NoHo Arts District, CA, September 9, 2013 — For the first time ever, legendary solo artist Elton John will perform on the Primetime Emmy Awards stage. The multi-Grammy Award winner's performance will pay tribute to the late, world-renowned performer, Liberace, whose HBO biopic,Behind the Candelabra, was nominated for 15 Emmy Awards this year. This performance will accompany the previously announced appearances as presenters by Michael Douglas and Matt Damon, who were both nominated in Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries or Movie category for their roles in the film.
While Elton John has played over 3,500 concerts in his career, this marks his first appearance at the Emmy Awards. John's upcoming album, "The Diving Board," his first studio album in seven years and produced by T Bone Burnett, will be released on September 24th.
Executive produced by Ken Ehrlich, the 65th Primetime Emmy Awards will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris, who also serves as a producer on the telecast. If you plan to Tweet this story, please use #Emmys and mention the official Emmys Twitter handle @primetimeemmys.
