- Odd that the same store which had funny Bush items for sale, pulled Obama ones because it was insensitive, they said. Oh, now it is but then it wasn't.
- Happy Bday Mr. President; dow drops 512 points (it's Bush's fault, we know); Welcome to Iowa, Illinois shoppers (tax holiday is on); the politics of 9/11 anniversary is already ugly; Hey celebs, Darfur and Somalia still have major problems (where is the outcry and temper tantrums?); Blake Shelton sets Mississippi Valley Fair attendance record at over 28,000. NO, as in NO Asian carp found near Chicago; most fests blow (Lolla) included; Jerry Lewis is out of MDA, but they have yet to tell us the whole reason.
"Rise of the Planet of the Apes"

Notes: July is now the best month ever for BO total, as results are tallied. Yes, that means, not just for July but any other month as well. As June went out with a lower
than expected total, July did not disappoint with a $1.4 billion BO. That is
nothing to sniff at, unless it's bad BO, bit it's not. As August rolls along,
now it's time for "The Rise of the Planet of the Apes." Computer-generated apes replace those humans actors (a bad thing) and they do look more realistic but will it take the fun out of the film? You be the judge. Oh, back to the July numbers. It has been reported that 175 million tickets were sold. By the way, "Untitled bin Laden Project" gets a Fall 2012 release date and an "Untitled Star Trek Sequel" will be out June 2012. I'm sensing an untitled theme here. Let's move on. The item I will be tracking is to see what film comes in second after a near dead heat last weekend. OK, those numbers again. While "Potter" went over $1 billion worldwide, "Transformers" just did, too. Hold on to your ticket stub
for this one: three films released this year have passed the $1 billion mark. No sniffing here either. That's boffo BO.
