I grew up an Irish Catholic and thus, being a Democrat was natural. But, as time went on, I knew that being natural on that didn't sit well.
Then came 1980. I could not vote in that election as I was still in high school. But, I liked Jimmy Carter and didn't want an actor in the White House. However, it did not take me long to realize that being a leader is different than being liked. I liked Carter but saw something in Ronald Reagan that meant something more. It was confidence, poise, leadership and love of country. I was sold and haven't look back.
Over the years, I have never voted a straight party ticket and I will not this time around either. Not until the debates did my confidence level increase about Mitt Romney. Why? because, he reminded me Reagan - the person who made me believe, thrive and succeed. Governments are not here to babysit us along the way, and Reagan knew that. A president should be the coach, who suggests the actions to take, and go and sell it. Romney looked Reagan-esque as he stood and defined his plan, battled the lies and the mainstream media. It was what many needed to see and hear and now the country is energized in a positive way - not a hopeful way. What that means is that, just hoping the future will get better by giving Pres. Obama four more years, is not a policy. And not very wise.
I want results from someone who has done it in the past and made hard choices. Plus, he makes money and should not be vilified for that. He should be praised and honored because he wants the same for us. This constant bickering over wealth reeks of jealousy and breaks a commandment or two, not to mention, one of the deadly sins. The commandment - "Thou shall not covet ...."
I want someone who believes in God, Family and Country and not shy away from those responsibilities. America is first and should always be first. What we do matters and shouldn't be watered down to fit some world agenda.

From Mitt: If elected, Paul Ryan and I, and the Republican team, will work to restore strength to America. Our children deserve it, our nation depends upon it, and the peace and freedom of the world require it. Thank you for believing America can do better, and that together, we can restore the country we love.

I am proud to believe in God, my family and wrap myself in the flag. Go ahead and make fun of that, it would make me smile. The bitterness, anger and hatred will only hurt you, not me. And think twice when flinging arrows at Mitt for some of his ideals, or even Paul Ryan - you may be ripping apart the two people who matter the most - your parents. I can't help but wonder when someone rips religion, they could ripping my parent's religion, too. Actually, it is more of the idea of religion that they hate. And that hurts far more than ripping apart an economic policy.
We gave Pres. Obama four years and it has not worked. To me, it is simple.
"Our economy runs on freedom, not government." And the economy is the answer, not those emotional issues that get in the way.
I like Pres. Obama, but he is not a leader and his policies haven't worked. He believes in shared sacrifice and spreading the wealth. It sounds good, but the results are a disaster.
If that idea was restricted to just this country, four more years could be argued. But, he wants America to be on par with the rest of the world and that is simply not acceptable. America is first and should always be first. Call that bragging and arrogant, I do not care. When you are president and put that hand on the Bible (yes, a Bible), what you say next is how you should govern. That swearing in ceremony is all that really matters. If that is not done, the presidency has failed. I like Pres. Obama, as I did Pres. Carter. But, not enough to award him four more years.
So, when attacking Romney and Paul Ryan, remember, I, too, am an Irish Catholic like Ryan. So, who do you think I will trust more? I can only wonder if people think of me the same way they think of him. Let's see, I'm 49, Irish Catholic. He's in his 40s and an Irish Catholic. Do not make me vote that way. But all the hatred does matter - and it will on the other side, too.

From Mitt: Paul and I and the Republican team have a plan to produce a real recovery for America. We're going to take back this country with good jobs, rising take-home pay, a strong military, and better opportunities for all Americans. This is a time to call on America’s greatness.
