DIXON POLICE DEPARTMENT NEWS RELEASE:
THEY HAVE RELEASED THE NAMES: The Dixon Police Department is currently conducting a homicide investigation that occurred at 407 Sherman Avenue in Dixon earlier today, Sunday, May 22, 2011. At approximately 9:40 a.m., Dixon Police Officers and Dixon Fire Department personnel responded to the residence after receiving a report of an unresponsive male laying in the backyard of the residence. Police and fire personnel arrived and noted that the male was deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A handgun was found in close proximity to the body. Officers then entered the
residence and located a female in a bedroom that was also deceased from a
gunshot wound. The residence was secured and the Illinois State Police – Crime
Scene Services was contacted to assist with the investigation. Preliminary
results of the investigation indicate that the male appears to have shot the
female and then turned the firearm on himself.
At this time, the Department is not releasing the identities of the
deceased individuals pending the notification of next of kin. The male subject
is approximately 75 years of age and the female victim is approximately 73
years of age. The male and female were also married to each other. The
Department was further assisted at the scene by the Lee County Coroner’s Office

5.21.11 - The search for a missing Aurora boy is still troubling officials, but it continues with updated information.
After spending a couple days in the Sterling, Rock Falls and Dixon areas in Illinois, police still have not found much concrete evidence. In fact, they wanted to clear up a few matters as well.
In a statement released today (May 21), it was noted that the car seat, which was being tapped as a possible clue, was not in the car. They said it was left at the house of the boy's grandmother. Also, the correct way to spell his name is with two Ms, as in Timmothy Pitzen. No word on the Spider-Man backpack, which was also said to be an earlier clue.
In the e-mail sent by Aurora, Il., police, indicate they are "increasingly concerned" as the days go by.
Anyone with information are asked to call Aurora police at 630-256-550 or 9-1-1. Once again, he is 4 feet 2 and about 70 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. His mother, Amy Fry-Pitzen, who took her own life, was memorialized today. In her suicide note, she said he was in the care of someone, who was not named.
The search came to the Sterling, Rock Falls and Dixon areas where fliers were distributed. Search teams combed the many wooded areas and parks in an effort to find any clues. They even searched along the Rock River, which flows through the towns.

HEADLINE: Questions Arise After Shooting
Rock Falls Incident Resolved
ROCK FALLS - It was around 8:30 a.m. on this sunny spring morning when shots could be heard around Dillon Elementary School in Rock Falls. A normal day of school turned into lockdown for the students. In fact, all Rock Falls schools were placed on lockdown. Officers were sent to the schools for extra security until the suspect was located.
The shooting took place at the corner of West 19th Street and 8th Avenue. At the location a white female in her mid 40s was reportedly shot. A male suspect was seen running from the area towards the 700 block of West 18th Street and was pursued by Rock Falls police. The suspect was described as a male white in his mid 50s wearing a dark-colored hoodie.
The suspect entered an apartment in the 500 block of West 18th Street. A perimeter was established and the Rock Falls SRT assisted by Whiteside country SRT and Illinois State Police gained entry into the residence and located a female white deceased and a male white, identified as the suspect involved in the initial shooting, was discovered deceased as well.
At a press conference at 11:21 a.m., it was noted that this case has been resolved. No questions were asked at that time because, it was said, the case is still being investigated. The schools were released from lockdown when the suspect was located, but officers remained.
No names were released pending notification of relatives.
LOOKING BACK...we here sensed the confusion and misleading info right away...first post on this: UPDATE: THIS WAS THE KEY QUESTION SO FAR...OBNS/WSDR questions: Are there three dead? The first woman shot on the corner (dead?); then the man fled to
apartment, found dead. A white female there dead as well...more later...early report had one woman shot on the corner while walking with a child. Where is the child? That would be one woman dead and then two more at apartment...the report from the press conference just indicated "shot" for the first woman. Police said she was killed, but later reports suggest otherwise. Let's hope the otherwise is correct...
