'Columbo' still confuses those who watch

No matter the case Columbo (Peter Falk) is working on, he still manages to confuses those around. That part of the show still holds up.
- He knows the killer early and we get to see him solve it with that knowledge. But, the killer thinks he does not know and is a bumbling fool.
- The show ran from 1971-2003, in some form or another. See IMBD.

- Yes, he was a slob, had a classic old car and a hound dog. He smoked a cigar.
- He had only one functioning eye.
- The show is actually quite funny.
- The show was shot all over Hollywood and surrounding picturesque settings. A nice backdrop to the crimes.
- Some of the guest stars are really bad actors, yet some are and were major stars.
- "One more thing" is just as irritating to hear whole watching as it was originally.
- He was the first person nominated for an Oscar and Emmy in the same year (1962) ...however, not for "Columbo." That was not conceived yet. See METV here. "Columbo" currently airs on METV.
- His first name is Frank.
- His wife is never seen or heard.

Spotlight on 'Perry Mason'

Featured TV show - "Perry Mason" - I am watching on FETV
-  This show still holds up because it was well written.
- Perry was often around the murders, etc, that took place, kind of like "Murder, She Wrote."
-. It has a "Twilight Zone" feel at times.
- Check for guest stars that became stars later on.
- It aired on CBS from 1957-1966.
-  I was a bit young to watch the originals. I was 3 when it went off the air. So, I was first introduced to Raymond Burr from "Ironsides." I was told he had a hit show before that ...yes, he did.
- Did they ever go to trial as the show deals with court drama about whether there will be a trial? Just notice that. I do not need an answer.
- Paul Drake (William Hopper) was great. He was shady in this as well. His mother was Hedda Hopper, the gossip columnist.
- Della Street (Barbara Hale) was born where I was born and raised - De Kalb, Illinois.
- There were 25 Perry Mason TV movies from 1985-1995. I am not watching those now. This is about the original show.
- He reminds me of Orson Welles for some reason.

Nostalgia TV works for me

Too much product nowadays made me retire full time from entertainment reporting. It is not the same so leave it to the new wave of younger journalists to create their style.

I will delve into what I know best and keep my style of writing. The new journalism can be sloppy and lazy.

So, I will explore nostalgia TV here. Rarely will it be so in-depth that the reader gets tired. It will not be an exercise in creative writing where the writer attempts to impress everyone, but rarely says anything at all.

Fast, short and to the point, this will be. I respect the reader and know they are smart as well.

TV items will go here. The vast ways of watching shows now is not a good thing, in my opinion. It has watered down entertainment. There is too much product. So, I will not delve into all the ways to watch, but rather concentrate on the way I covered it for years. Nostalgia will be a theme and if something deserves attention, I may report it.
